Goodyear Symphony Pops Concert moves to Ballpark
GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (May 1, 2009) The music of great film composers will be featured at the 2009 Goodyear Symphony Pops Concert from on May 9. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
The West Valley Arts Council and the City of Goodyear have teamed up once again to bring this popular family event Goodyear. This year, the performance moves to a new location - the new Goodyear Ballpark at 1933 S. Ballpark Way, east of Estrella Parkway and south of Yuma Avenue.
General admission tickets for stadium seating are $20 for adults ($18 for Goodyear residents) and $15 for students with valid ID. Children 10 and under are $5. VIP tickets are $100 and include special seating and hors doeuvres.
This year's theme pays homage to great film composers like Henry Mancini, Rodgers and Hammerstein, James Horner and John Williams. Leading the symphony will be Resident Conductor Lawrence Golan. Golan began his tenure with The Phoenix Symphony during its 2006-07 season and this will be his third time conducting.
Rounding out the afternoon are a variety of activities for audience members, including a pre-concert performance by the Symphonic Winds from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. and a children's arts and crafts area and petting zoo will be open 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Food vendors will be on site. Wine and beer will be available for purchase. No alcohol, glass containers, or chairs may be brought into the event.
Food rules are different this year. Ballpark rules limit the food and drink that can be brought in to the following:

§ One factory-sealed plastic water bottle (non-carbonated and colorless water only) not exceeding 1 liter in size per person
