Goodyear begins making a splash with aquatics programs, May 19


The Goodyear Parks and Recreation Department is ready to begin making a splash for the beginning of summer with the return of its swimming lessons and aquatics programs for youths of all ages.

Goodyear is offering swim lessons for beginners age 3 and older at the Goodyear city pool at 430 E. Loma Linda Blvd. with registration beginning on Monday, May 19 for the first session of lessons, May 7 through June 6.

Other sessions for swim lessons begin June 9 (with open registration from June 4 through June 7.

Registration for residents begins on May 19 ($30) and open registration for residents and non-residents lasts from May 21-24 for the session that lasts from May 27 to June 6.

Other swim lesson sessions are: June 9 through June 20 (open registration June 4-7); June 23 through July 3 (residents register June 16, open registration June 18-21); July 7 through July 18 (residents register June 30, open registration July 2-5); July 21 through August 1 (residents register July 14, open registration July 16-19).

Registration for the Goodyear Sharks Swim and Dive Teams for ages 4 to 18, and also begins on Monday, May 19.  Lessons are offered twice a week for four weeks, with a total of eight sessions.

 “Group swim lessons are a great way to introduce kids to water safety and basic swim strokes,” said David Seid, recreation supervisor for the Goodyear Parks and Recreation Department. “Lessons are offered year round with new lessons beginning every month. From parent/child classes that cater to children as young as 6 months old to our most advanced group lessons that help prepare swimmers to move on to a swim team, there is a lesson designed for everyone.”

Open Swim Pass:  The open swim pass if available to use from the date of purchase through September 2; hours vary. See monthly pool schedule online.

Individual Pass: $25/$30 non-resident, Family Pass: $50/$60 non-resident, Family passes are available for members of the same household. Open Swim Daily Price:  $1.50 per person, 3 and under are free
