Construction Begins: May 1
Construction Concludes: June 1

Goodyear, Ariz. (April 24, 2017) –Construction to improve accessibility and transform the front of the Goodyear Branch Library, 14455 W. Van Buren Street, C-101, begins May 1. The facility will remain open normal business hours during the duration of the project. The beautification project includes new outdoor shading, lighting and seating.

“The seating is both functional and artistic,” said Goodyear Arts & Culture Coordinator Guylene Ozlanski. “At the conclusion of this project, we will have a beautiful new public space that invites people to add an outdoor experience to their library visit- including a quote in the ground chosen by the public.”

Vote for the Quote
The public is invited to vote for their favorite of three literary quotes now through May 13 at the display inside the library. The winning quote will be incorporated into the ground of the newly-designed library entrance.

Option 1: “Without libraries what have we? We have no past and no future.”  Ray Bradbury

Option 2: “A book is a dream that you hold in your hand.” Neil Gaiman

Option 3: “Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” Fredrick Douglass

In addition to the above-mentioned enhancements, a book drop-off kiosk that was designed by local students will be added. Featuring lighting and a student-driven design, the kiosk has panels that people can move and change to create a story for others to view.

Patrons are reminded that during the construction period from May 1 through June 1, for safety reasons, parking will be restricted and the book drop-off will be temporarily relocated. From May 15 – May 18, the main entrance to the library will also be temporarily relocated to the west side of the building. Signage on site will be available to direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
