Free disaster preparedness and response classes

Community Emergency Response Training runs Sept. 12 – Oct. 5

Goodyear, Ariz. (Aug. 9, 2017) – The Goodyear Fire Department is offering a series of free classes designed to give participants training in disaster preparedness and neighborhood emergency response, Sept. 12 through Oct. 5. Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) classes will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at Goodyear Fire Administration, 14455 W. Van Buren Street, Suite E-102.

CERT class participants will learn about readiness, helping people, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number. After completing the series, participants will have a thorough understanding of how to put out small fires; control bleeding; treat for shock; provide basic medical aid; search for and rescue victims safely; as well as participate in a mock drill exercise to practice lessons learned during the training sessions.

C.E.R.T. members can assist their families and others using the skills they learn during training to help save and sustain lives following a disaster until help arrives.
