City marks tenth year of community service projects

Goodyear volunteers give back on Make a Difference Day

Goodyear, Ariz. (Oct. 16, 2017) – More than 300 volunteers are expected to participate in 15 community service projects around the city to mark Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 28.

From planting a garden at a fire station to painting fencing and railings, volunteers of all ages and abilities will help make improvements throughout Goodyear. The projects are organized by Goodyear’s Wellness and Volunteer Coordinator Carrie Lumia who matches the needs with the volunteers. “Goodyear has such a generous spirit,” says Lumia. “Each year we see people come together, dedicated to giving back through volunteerism. It just goes to show you how much you can transform the community with just a few hours of donated time.”

In 2016, Make a Difference Day in Goodyear resulted in more than 400 volunteers donating 1,600 hours of time in a single day.
