Arizona Balloon Classic floats to new home at Goodyear Ballpark

 

Hot air balloon festival features rides, races and food

 

7th Annual Arizona Balloon Classic
Friday, Jan. 26 from 4 – 8 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 27 from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 28 from 7 – 10 a.m.

Goodyear, Ariz. (Dec. 11, 2017) – The Arizona Balloon Classic is floating on over to Goodyear Ballpark for its seventh annual festival. Featuring hot air balloon races at dawn, delicious food all day, and the enchanting evening glow, the festival offers a weekend full of family-friendly fun.

Each year more than 75,000 people enjoy the beautiful, larger than life balloons and the spectacular views they provide, both on the ground and from the air. 

“We are thrilled to be able to bring this wonderful event to Goodyear Ballpark,” said Mayor Georgia Lord. “My colleagues on the City Council and I have made it a priority to make sure that our city offers diverse and engaging activities that deliver a sense of community pride. We welcome the Arizona Balloon Classic to be among our premier events in Goodyear.”

Friday, Jan. 26 from 4 – 8 p.m.
This year’s festivities will kick off on Friday, Jan. 26 when gates open at 4 p.m. Balloons begin lighting up the evening from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. as part of the ‘Desert Glow’.

Saturday, Jan. 27 from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
The event gets off to an early start on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 7:45 a.m. with the ‘Hare ‘n Hound’ balloon race competition where up to 25 hot air balloons will compete and rack up points in this multi-leg competition. The balloons heat up again at 6:30 p.m. for another night of captivating views of the balloons glowing. The evening caps off with a fireworks show at 7:45 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 28 from 7 – 10 a.m.
Gates open at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28 in anticipation of the 7:45 a.m. balloon race competition to determine who the ultimate champion will be.

Each day of the event, there are a variety of activities and attractions including:

  • Food Trucks & Street Food Festival
  • Inflatable zone for kids
  • Zip line
  • Vendors with a variety of items to shop
  • Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides

Tickets for the event start at $15 per person and are on sale at www.abcfest.com. Tickets, tethered balloon rides, food, crafts and inflatable activities can also be purchased the day of the event.
