We’ve been fortunate enough to have had 10 years of amazing spring training games that offer our residents and the surrounding area convenient access to the sights, sounds and fun of Cactus League baseball. There is even more excitement in the decades to come.
The great baseball fans that flock to the ballpark also support many of our local restaurants and businesses. In fact, it is estimated that spring training season annually contributes over $370 million to Arizona’s economy – this is a big win for Goodyear’s residents and businesses. But, economic growth and baseball is just a part of the ballpark story.
Goodyear Ballpark offers a year-round gathering place at the heart of our city, and provides an important forum for community involvement, interaction and celebration. The ballpark is the place where we gather with neighbors and watch our children and grandchildren graduate high school. It is the home of one of the largest firework displays in the Valley, and where we congregate on a warm summer night to celebrate the Fourth of July. It is the place in the city where we honor the men and women who have bravely and selflessly served our country on Veterans Day. And it is the place we dress up in costume in the fall for Halloween, and in the winter, our kids can’t wait to head to the ballpark to play in the snow. Overall, Goodyear Ballpark hosts more than 120 great events each year, bringing 325,000 visitors. These unique and diverse events provide entertainment and family fun and abundant opportunities to come together as a community.
So whether you plan to catch a spring training game, or attend one of the many signature events or activities, I hope you enjoy the amazing atmosphere that Goodyear Ballpark provides. I look forward to seeing you there this year!
