1. My insurance company needs to know the distance from my house to the closest fire station. How do I get this information?

This information can be obtained by visiting our "Station Locations" page. This will provide you with address locations and map links. By using a search engine such as Yahoo maps or Mapquest, you will be able to provide your insurance company with the distance information.

2. What is the ISO rating for my home?

If you live within 5 miles of a fire station, your ISO rating is 4. For homes outside the 5 mile radius the ISO rating is 9.

3. What is the distance from my house to the nearest fire hydrant?

The City of Goodyear requires developers to install fire hydrants every 400 feet for a developed community, therefore your house will be within 400 feet of a hydrant.

4. What is the phone number to the fire station closest to my house?

Phone numbers to the fire stations are restricted. Please contact our Administrative Office at 623-932-2300 for assistance.

5. My smoke detector is beeping. What does that mean?

A smoke detector will beep or “chirp” once every minute or so when the batteries are low. Although your smoke detector may be wired into your home’s electrical system, it may still have a battery back-up in case of a power failure. Your smoke detector should be checked monthly and your batteries changed yearly. If your house is new, your smoke detectors may be hard wired. If this is the case, once one device goes off, they all may go off.

If your detector(s) is chirping, you should try replacing the batteries. If it continues to chirp, try vacuuming each device as dirt will also set them off.

Your smoke alarm should last about 8 - 10 years, after which time they should be replaced. Like most electrical devices, smoke alarms wear out. Smoke alarms are easy to take care of - simply replace batteries at least once a year and keep them clean by vacuuming over and around your smoke alarm regularly.

6. I locked my keys in the car. Can I have the Fire Department come and unlock my vehicle?

If there is a child locked in the vehicle, you will need to call 911 to have a unit dispatched. However, for a non-emergency, you will need to call a local tow company or a locksmith for assistance.

7. How do I schedule a fire inspection?

To schedule an inspection, please call 623-882-7313. Leave your contact information and an inspector will call you back to schedule the inspection.

8. How do I get my fire protection plans reviewed?

The Fire Department does not review general plans. All plans must be submitted to the Building Safety Department, located at 195 N. 145th Ave., Goodyear, AZ 85338. We will however, assist with Fire Suppression items. Please call 623-882-7329 for a Fire Plans Examiner.

9. How do I get rid of bees swarming in my yard?

Citizens should call a bee keeper in a non-emergency bee situation. For bee removal, look in the Yellow Pages under “Bee Removal Services.”

If bees are attacking, the citizen should call 911 and the Fire Department will be dispatched.

10. How do I obtain an application for a Knox Box?

Please visit Fire Administration at 175 N. 145th Avenue in Goodyear to obtain a signed Knox Box application.

11. Who can replace the keys to the Knox Box?

You will need to make an appointment with Fire Prevention staff to come out and put any keys in the Knox Box. You can do this by calling Fire Administration at 623-932-2300.

12. Where do I get fire safety signs made?

Any sign store can provide you with the proper fire related signage. Please check the Yellow Pages.

13. Will you help me install my car seat?

Fire department staff has received special training to become Certified Car Safety Seat Technicians. The technicians will be happy to inspect and teach Goodyear residents about their child's safety seat. If you are a Goodyear resident and you would like to schedule an appointment, please call the Car Seat Hotline at (623) 882-SEAT (7328), leave your name and phone number, and a Car Seat Technician will contact you for an appointment.

14. How do I sign up for CPR class?

15. How do I get a copy of a fire or EMS report?

Reports for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and fire incidents can be requested in person, in writing or by downloading an Incident Request Form and mailing it to PO Box 5100, Goodyear, AZ 85338. There is a $3 fee for each report. Please call Administrative Services at 623-932-2300 or send email to make sure the report is available.

16. How do I obtain an Environmental Report?

A written request must be submitting by completing the Permit/Service Application form. The cost is $50.00, and the time frame for the report is 7-10 business days.

17. What are the requirements to becoming a Goodyear Firefighter?

You must be at least 18 years old, a high school graduate, and Arizona State Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or Nationally Registered Paramedic.

18. How do I apply to be a Goodyear Firefighter?

Goodyear Fire Department is not currently recruiting. However, by completing a job interest card on-line, you will be notified electronically when a recruitment begins.

The Goodyear Fire Department participates in the metro Phoenix Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Consortium. If you are interested in being a firefighter, attend a candidate orientation class. Orientation class topics include physical job requirements, physical training tips, basic written test taking techniques, and oral board interview tips. 19. How do I schedule a ride-along with a fire company?

To participate in a ride-along, you must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background check. You may ride with a fire company between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and can only participate once per year. Arrangements for ride-alongs must be made at least 30 days prior to your requested ride-along date(s). The date of your ride-along will be confirmed by a fire captain, after passing the background check.

A waiver must be completed and your age verified before a ride-along will be scheduled. Please visit Fire Administration at 175 N. 145th Avenue in Goodyear during normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) to complete the required paperwork. Proper ID will be required.

20. How do I schedule a fire station tour?

The Goodyear Fire Department offers safety tours of our fire stations. Tours are by appointment only and children must be at least 4 years old to participate.

21. How do I obtain a Goodyear Fire Department Patch?

The Goodyear Fire Department no longer trades (or sells) patches. This is due to the potential for department patches to be used in terrorist or criminal activities. Thank you for your interest.

22. Where can I get immunization shots for my child?

The Goodyear Fire Department does not administer baby shots. Find the nearest Free Immunization Clinic near you.

23. How do I get my oxygen/air tanks filled?

The Goodyear Fire Department does not offer this service. Please consult the Yellow Pages for assistance.

24. How do I dispose of needles/syringes?

Place items in a heavy plastic puncture proof container (Chlorox bottle, Tide liquid container, etc). Tape lid closed, using permanent marker write "SHARPS" on outside of container and place in regular trash bin.

25. How do I obtain biomedical bags?

The Goodyear Fire Department does not distribute biomedical bags. Please consult the Yellow Pages for "Medical Supply" companies.

26. How do I clean up fire/smoke damage?

Consult the Yellow Pages for a professional contractor specializing in fire/smoke damage.

27. Can you recommend a water damage cleanup company?

The Goodyear Fire Department does not have a listing for these companies. Please consult the Yellow Pages for assistance.

28. Does the fire department fill or empty pools?

The Goodyear Fire Department does not provide either of these services.

29. How do I refill or check my fire extinguisher?

30. Do you give fire extinguisher training?

Goodyear's CERT class is offered several times a year. This class includes proper hands-on training using fire extinguishers to put out real fires. Click here for more CERT information

32. Do you collect toys for children?

Please call Goodyear Police non-emergency at 623-932-1220 , as they have the authority to issue parking tickets.

34. How do I dispose of Hazardous Materials?

35. Can you help get my cat out of the tree?

No, the Fire Department does not respond to this type of a call. Cats will come down when they are ready OR you can put food at the base of the tree and they will come down when hungry.
