The Fire Prevention Division handles fire code and inspection services for existing businesses. The division also provides fire permits for hazardous materials/processes, operational and state license facilities.

Fire Prevention is also responsible for the investigation of the origin and cause of fires and works closely with the Police Department on suspicious or arson related fires.

The city of Goodyear conducts two types of inspections:

  • Business Inspections are performed by the Fire Department and consist of annual inspections of existing occupancies. These include fire code compliance for low, medium and high risk businesses.
  • Permit Inspections includes those business with high hazards and state licensed facilities.
  • Construction Inspections are performed by the Building Safety Division and consist of fire inspections based on approved plans for fire protection systems and features in new construction and tenant improvement construction.
