 On Saturday, October 26, 2019, the City of Goodyear celebrated its 12th Make a Difference Day, which coincides with Make a Difference Day held nationally every 4th Saturday of October.  It is the largest national day of volunteering - a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. 

Nearly 250 volunteers from several community groups completed projects that helped the City's residents and improved its neighborhoods.   Volunteers worked together on 16 projects, including:

  • Providing assistance to low-income senior Goodyear residents:
    • Painting the exterior of a home
    • Constructing a code-compliant driveway, and
    • Removing dead mulberry trees, dead wood and weeds from a 1-acre property
  • Planting trees and shrubs in Roscoe Dog Park
  • Painting various structures within the City:
    • Squares on concrete at Desert Star School
    • 128 bollards inside 5 City well sites
    • 152 fire hydrants in North Subdivision, around the Ballpark and the Airport Commercenter
    • Decorative railing at Bullard Wash Phase 2 Park, and
    • Fire lane curb at Goodyear Community Park.
