The City of Goodyear is looking for church groups, school groups (junior high, high school, and college), service organizations, and corporate groups, as well as individuals, interested in volunteering for special events and/or one-time group projects. Listed below are the City's upcoming special events and group project opportunities.

2016 Make A Difference Day
Saturday, October 22, 2016 - 6:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. 

Make a Difference Day, held annually in October, is the largest national day of helping others - a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.  In Goodyear, adult and teen volunteers work together on projects of benefit to our community and its residents. 

To volunteer your organization or as an individual, complete the 2016 Make A Difference Day Volunteer Registration Form.  All volunteers are required to complete the waiver.  The Parental/Guidance Consent Form needs to be completed for volunteers under 18 years old.

Well Site #21 – 1280 N. Sarival – Paint gates. (Assigned to Eagle Scout Candidate, T. Burt)

Fire Hydrant Painting – North – Paint 90 fire hydrants (40 southeast of Lower Buckeye and Perryville and 50 southeast of Sarival and Yuma). (Assigned to Eagle Scout Candidate, D. Miller)

20 volunteers (10 2-person teams)

Fire Hydrant Painting – South – Paint 81 fire hydrants in Estrella. (Assigned to Eagle Scout Candidate, B. Spear)

Estrella Vista North Park – Help assemble new playground equipment & install wood fibar mulch around the playground. (Assigned to Eagle Scout Candidate, C. Mikos)

Home Painting – 3 homes – Prep and paint the exterior of the home of a low-income senior (over 60), disabled or veteran homeowner. (Assigned to Palm Valley Church, The Church at Litchfield Park, and The Refinery Christian Church)

25 volunteers per home

4 hours (plus advance prep work)

Rollers, brushes, ladders/stools, paint sprayers (if available), hats, gloves, old clothes. Paint donated by Sherwin Williams.

 

Litchfield Water Festival 2016 - Goodyear Community Park
Monday, October 24, 2016 and Tuesday, October 25, 2016

The Litchfield Water Festival, which will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 and Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., is an educational field day event that instills a deeper understanding of water in the earth system and Arizona's water resources.

Volunteers are needed to facilitate a lesson, help setup and breakdown, escort student classes, register volunteers, monitor festival parking, coordinate water activities, and take on other roles.  Volunteer assignments will be given at the Volunteer Training scheduled on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Avondale Municipal Operations Service Center, 1399 E. Lower Buckeye Rd., Avondale, AZ 85323.

On-Going Group Projects

Group projects such as the following can generally be scheduled anytime during the year if there is a current need.

YANA (You Are Not Alone) Member Home Clean-up
(3-5 volunteers)
As needed

Pick-up and remove trash, trim weeds, help repair and beautify a YANA member's home in Goodyear. To volunteer your organization or as an individual, complete the YANA Member Home Clean-up Volunteer Registration Form. All volunteers are required to complete the waiver. The Parental/Guidance Consent Form needs to be completed for volunteers under 18 years old.
