Vice Mayor Sheri M. Lauritano was originally appointed to fill a Council vacancy, and was then elected to her first four-year term in March of 2011. She was recently reelected to her second term, and elected to serve as the City’s Vice-Mayor by her fellow Councilmembers on June 8, 2015.
Vice Mayor Lauritano moved to Goodyear in 1995 and currently lives in Estrella Mountain with her husband, Stephen, and her two children, Christopher and Victoria. Vice Mayor Lauritano grew up in Arizona and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctorate cum laude from Gonzaga University School of Law. She is also admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court. Additionally, Vice Mayor Lauritano holds a real estate license with her husband's firm, Arizona Pro Realty.
Vice Mayor Lauritano has been practicing law since 1994. She was a prosecutor for and served as the head of the Domestic Violence Unit for the City of Phoenix. She is currently a partner in the firm of Bain & Lauritano, PLC where she specializes in criminal and family law.
Prior to serving on Council, Vice Mayor Lauritano served on the City of Goodyear’s Planning and Zoning Commission, the City Center Committee, and the ADEQ Community Advisory Committee. She currently serves as the chairperson of the National League of Cities’ International Council, and sits on the organization’s Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee, and the Community and Economic Development Committee. She previously served on the Public Safety & Crime Prevention Committee.
Vice Mayor Lauritano was selected as a Flinn-Brown Fellow as well as a graduate of the Dodie Londen Excellence in Public Service Program. She also serves on the City’s Audit Subcommittee.
Vice Mayor Lauritano’s focus is to bring high-quality businesses, higher education, and amenities to the City of Goodyear, and to focus on those areas that improve our community.
