Citizen's Police Academy
The Goodyear Police Department invites you to participate
The Goodyear Police Department is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for the spring session of the Citizen’s Police Academy which begins Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Police/Fire Administration Building.
The 14-week course meets each Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 175 N. 145th Ave., Suite E.
The Citizen's Police Academy is a revolutionary concept in law enforcement and community relations. As part of a continuing program to develop citizen awareness and understanding of the role of law enforcement, the Goodyear Police Department created a Citizen's Police Academy designed for citizens of all backgrounds and occupations.
It is a 14 week, 42-hour training program of both classroom and “hands-on” instruction. Classes are held once a week for approximately 3 hours and include a tour of the county jail and police facilities, role playing scenarios, constitutional law, gang awareness, and demonstrations by specialized police units.
Graduates of this course will be better informed citizens and be in a position to relate their experience to friends and co-workers. They will also have the opportunity to express their concerns to police employees.
If you are interested in attending the academy, please contact Sherry Giese at 623-201-9603 for further information.
