Welcome to the City of Goodyear’s Youth Sports Leagues! We offer a variety of youth sports throughout the year. If you have any questions about our youth sports leagues, please email sports@goodyearaz.gov.

Youth Sports Philosophy
The City of Goodyear Recreation Division provides an opportunity for all Goodyear youth to learn and play sports. In doing so, we promote the development of each player, provide a safe and controlled environment for kids to play, recruit parents from within the community to volunteer to become quality coaches and assistants, and offer a high level of achievement, sportsmanship, and character development for all players, regardless of skill. We embrace the concept of character education through sports, and strive to demonstrate teamwork, respect, sportsmanship and fun through our actions and ask that both parents and players do as well.

Recreational Leagues
The City of Goodyear offers recreational youth sports leagues with the purpose of developing fundamental sport skills, social confidence, cognitive understanding of the game, opportunity for players to learn to work in a team environment, ALL coaches/parents should focus on the encouragement of players so they have positive experience and successful introduction to youth sports. Expectations by parents should be based on their child having fun, developing skills and wanting to continue playing.

There is no selection/tryout process.  All players who register are assigned to a team, special request for team mates/coaches and practice times are granted as long as space is available on team rosters.  Players benefit from the opportunity for social interaction with other players their own age and physical fitness aspects of the game while also developing better skills. All games are usually held at the same local location every weekend for 6-8 weeks. All coaches are parent volunteers.

Goal
Our goal is to provide the best possible youth sports experience for players, through experienced and dedicated professional staff, trained instructors/coaches and educated parents who desire and promote a positive youth sports experience for all children.
