Juneteenth Family Day

Join the City of Goodyear for the 5th Annual Juneteenth Family Day as the celebration moves to its new home at Goodyear High School.

This year's theme, Homecoming, honors the rich traditions, culture, pride, and community spirit of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through an evening filled with entertainment, education, art, and family fun.

Live Entertainment

Enjoy an evening of performances and cultural showcases, including:

  • Outside the Line Band
  • Thrive City Church 
  • 40+ Double Dutch Club
  • Majorette dance performances
  • A special marching band made up of HBCU alumni from across the country, bringing the energy and tradition of an authentic HBCU homecoming experience to Goodyear

Experience HBCU Homecoming Culture

Immerse yourself in the excitement of an HBCU-inspired celebration featuring:

  • Mock homecoming parade float photo opportunities
  • Large-scale HBCU logo installation representing colleges and universities from across the nation
  • Interactive HBCU map where alumni and future students can share their connections and aspirations
  • Custom tote bag creation station
  • Art on the Yard, featuring five vibrant Juneteenth murals commissioned by the City of Goodyear
  • Greek Row – Learn about the history, service, and cultural impact of Divine Nine organizations

Interactive Activities & Workshops

Guests of all ages can participate in hands-on experiences throughout the evening, including:

  • Majorette dance lessons
  • African drumming workshops
  • Line dancing
  • Financial empowerment sessions
  • Family tree workshops
  • Storytime & crafts 
  • Afroletics classes

Kids Zone

Families can enjoy a dedicated area featuring:

  • Princess and superhero meet-and-greets
  • Hands-on crafts
  • Toddler soft-play area designed for younger children

Father's Day Weekend Celebration

In honor of Father's Day weekend:

  • Children can create personalized Father's Day cards onsite
  • The first 500 fathers in attendance will receive a commemorative event pin

Food & Shopping

Browse local artisan vendors and enjoy a variety of food truck offerings throughout the evening.
