Many dedicated and talented people work hard every day to keep the city of Goodyear moving forward and to provide the best resources and services that we can for our community. We do it because we love what we do, but it’s always nice to be recognized for our efforts. Here are some of the awards and acknowledgements that our city departments and employees have received for the work that they are doing:

Parks & Recreation Department Awarded for Campaign to Promote Hop & Hops

The city of Goodyear Parks & Recreation Department received the 2019 Arizona Parks & Recreation Association (APRA) Marketing & Communications award for its innovative “Hop & Hops” digital media outreach campaign. The award was formally presented at the APRA annual awards banquet held in Tucson on Wednesday, August 21.

The award recognizes excellence in print, audio visual or electronic communications that externally promote the agency’s public parks, facilities, recreation or leisure services, programs and successfully demonstrates an increased level of public awareness.
In April, the inaugural “Hop & Hops” event, the first of two new city signature events, attracted a crowd of over 5,700 to the Goodyear Ballpark.

The Parks & Recreation Department was also chosen as the recipient of the 2019 APRA photo contest in the “Recreation Programs, Sports, Events, and Classes” category. The intent of the photo award is to “capture an amazing action shot that demonstrates the scope or spirit of an event”.
The winning photo (pictured) was taken by Recreation Specialist Hannah Duncan during the “Hop & Hops” egg drop administered by the Goodyear Fire Department.
