Many dedicated and talented people work hard every day to keep the city of Goodyear moving forward and to provide the best resources and services that we can for our community. We do it because we love what we do, but it’s always nice to be recognized for our efforts. Here are some of the awards and acknowledgements that our city departments and employees have received for the work that they are doing:

Arizona Elks Association Firefighter of the Year

The Arizona Elks Association named Goodyear Fire Department Fire Engineer Gilbert Aguirre Firefighter of the Year. The award was presented in front of the entire Elks Association at the annual state convention on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Just over two years ago, Gilbert was diagnosed with cancer. Gilbert is back on a fire truck doing what he loves to do, taking care of the citizens of Goodyear.
