Many dedicated and talented people work hard every day to keep the city of Goodyear moving forward and to provide the best resources and services that we can for our community. We do it because we love what we do, but it’s always nice to be recognized for our efforts. Here are some of the awards and acknowledgements that our city departments and employees have received for the work that they are doing:

Arizona Burn Foundation Educator of the Year

On September 6, 2018, Fire Community Educator Maureen Carney was awarded the 2018 AFBEA Educator of the Year during opening ceremonies for the Arizona State Fire School. Maureen is constantly focused on becoming the best educator she can be and has done it as a part time employee.  Maureen creates fun and imaginative ways to engage her audiences while she instructs them on community risk reduction safety programs. Frequently we get feedback on Maureen that she creates meaningful, yet fun ways to learn. Last year Maureen educated parents and fitted child safety seats for over 100 residents. The fire department is very proud to have Maureen working on their team.
