Honoring the Men and Women Serving in the Fire Department

The Goodyear Fire Department held its first annual awards ceremony to honor those who serve the city every day. Congratulations to all those recognized at the event!

Community Service

Community Service Award – Engineer Lora Davis

 Awarded to a member of the department for exemplary service and commitment to the community in a manner that is beyond what is expected in their normal responsibilities.  Their contributions have an incredible impact on the community, fills a need, and reflects positively on the department.

Unit Commendation Award – Captain Aaron Chavez, Engineer Paul Lovejoy, Engineer Gilbert Aguirre, Firefighter Christopher New

Awarded when a unit acts with courage, resourcefulness and perseverance in performance of their duties have resulted in the protection of life or property, the prevention of serious injury or death, or exceptional quality service to the department or the community.

Fire Chiefs Award
Fire Chief's Award – Sam Portillo, Fire Equipment Maintenance Worker

Awarded by the fire chief for demonstrating acts of courage, resourcefulness, and perseverance in performance of their duties which have resulted in the protections of life or property, the prevention of serious injury of death, or exceptionally admirable quality of service to the department or community.  Awardees demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism and exemplify the highest standards of service by virtue of diligence, dedication and character.

Employee of the year
Employee of the Year Award – Lisa Neagle, Fire Administrative Services Supervisor

Awarded to an employee that demonstrates exemplary performance in their duties and responsibilities. This employee supports the mission of the department, produces quality work, and consistently displays characteristics valued and appreciated by the organization. They are a reliable compass continually pointing the department in the direction of its goals and objectives.

Firefighter of the Year Award – Awarded posthumously to Engineer Austin Peck (award accepted by Austin Peck’s parents)

Awarded for recognition of an individual’s commitment and dedication to the department or community.  Demonstrating exceptional professionalism, esprit de corps and exemplifying outstanding standards of service by virtue of diligence, dedication and character. This can include special projects, sustained outstanding performance, or a series of specific acts.  This individual embraces and embodies the values of the organization; integrity, excellence and unity.
