Arizona’s Governor Issues Executive Order to Stop Spread of Coronavirus

Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order on March 19 to help combat the COVID-19 outbreak. The order, will impact several businesses across the state in counties where there are confirmed cases of the virus in the following ways:

    • Closure of all bars, movies, and fitness clubs.
    • Restaurants can do pickup, delivery, drive thru.
    • Taking measures to conserve protective equipment which is in high demand worldwide. Starting on March 21, all non-essential surgeries that use protective equipment or ventilators cannot be performed.
    • Delaying the expiration dates on Arizona driver licenses ensuring residents over the age of 65 do not need to visit Motor Vehicle Division offices to renew their driver licenses during the public health emergency.

In addition, the city of Goodyear issued an Emergency Declaration on March 19 which provides the resources needed for the city of Goodyear to keep the community as safe and healthy as possible while mitigating the spread of the virus outbreak. While this did not include the closure of any local businesses, businesses in the city must adhere to the Governor’s order beginning at close of business on March 20.
