Hand Sanitizer fundraiser

BASIS Goodyear K-12 Charter School wants to give residents a key tool for staying healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic while raising money for some fantastic causes.

That’s why BASIS has teamed with WeGotYouCovid.com for a fundraiser where people can buy hand sanitizer at non-inflated prices, while raising money for the school, a student meal program and local charities.

The fundraiser will take place on Friday (May 22) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at BASIS Goodyear, located at 15800 W Sherman St.

“We know a lot of people are heading back to work in some capacity, and restaurants and offices are starting to open back up, and we know hand sanitizer hasn’t been readily available, and sometimes it’s been extremely expensive. WeGotYouCovid is selling the hand sanitizer for the same prices as usual,” said Stacey Rassas, auxiliary programs assistant with BASIS Goodyear. “We thought that was really wonderful, to get some of that product here in our local community here in Goodyear, and at the same time raise some money for some good causes.”

West Valley residents can purchase a gallon of hand sanitizer, or a case of four gallons. Each gallon costs $46, which is $0.36 cents per ounce.

For each gallon sold:

-$2.50 will go toward supporting BASIS Goodyear.

-$1 will go to Wheels Up x Meals Up, which provides food to students facing hunger. Each dollar provides lunch to 10 children.

-$1 will go to other local charities. "WeGotYouCovid is helping to support employing veterans, and they’re also using money for the sales in other areas of the community where they see a need," Rassas said.

Hand sanitizer can be pre-ordered at www.WeGotYouCovid.com and claimed at BASIS Goodyear during Friday’s fundraiser, or purchases can be made upon arrival at the school. In order to promote social distancing, this will be a drive-up event: People won’t be required to leave their vehicles in order to claim their purchases.

“It seemed like just a great way for us to partner with someone who is trying to do the right thing in the community to try to help us all through the pandemic,” Rassas said. “We’re longing for the days when we can be together and be more social, and at the same time, we all want to ensure that our families and our loved ones are able to be safe, protected and healthy. I hope that overall, we can continue to be a strong community and help each other to do the right thing and be the best we can be during this time.”
