Bacchus Wine Bar Coming to Goodyear's Downtown
GSQ is taking shape with another exciting announcement of a new and unique concept. Bacchus Wine Bar is expected to open by late spring or early summer of 2024 just north of McDowell Road and west of 150th Drive. The wine bar will be locally owned by Goodyear residents Jack and Kathleen Vozar.
"We are really excited to be opening in Goodyear. We've heard so many people in the West Valley say that -- we need this kind of concept in this part of town," said Jack Vozar. "My wife and I fell in love with wine during our travels and started making it 20 years ago. We felt it was time to take our love for wine to the next level with a unique concept."
Customers will be able to try 24 different varietals through self-serve wine machines in two, six or nine ounce pours. The Vozars say the atmosphere will be unique as well -- describing it as "The Smithsonian Institute meets the Hard Rock café". The bar will be decked out with memorabilia with a laid-back vibe, good music and small plates. The couple also came up with the name Bacchus because it stands for the Greek god of wine. The bar's slogan will be, "Bacchus Wine and Debauchery."
"Our residents have been asking for more local and unique places to enjoy, and this is going to really hit the spot," said Mayor Joe Pizzillo. "Goodyear embraces local business entrepreneurs and I’m really excited for the Vozars. In addition, watching our downtown take shape is so exciting and we couldn't do it without our partners at Globe Corporation."
Globe Corp. owns and is developing the land in a private-public partnership with the city of Goodyear. GSQ will encompass approximately 150 acres of various high-quality restaurants, storefront shopping, diverse housing options and much more.
"We are so excited for Bacchus to join the lineup at GSQ," said Mike Olsen, Chief Financial Officer at Globe Corp. "It will be ideally situated in between The Stillery which will be a hot spot with live country music and dancing as well as Copper and Sage -- a gastropub on the other side. These kinds of unique options are what will make GSQ a destination in the West Valley."
“Goodyear residents have been asking for more high-end restaurant and dining experiences, and Bacchus Wine Bar fulfills that request. We are delighted to welcome Bacchus Wine Bar to Goodyear, and our team continues to work on attracting even more of these types of elevated establishments to Goodyear,” said Wendy Bridges, Goodyear Economic Development Director.
“Globe Corp. has taken a meticulous approach in putting together GSQ’s already exceptional and growing retail lineup. After sitting down with Jack and Kathy and hearing their vision for the concept and witnessing their passion firsthand, we had no doubt Bacchus Wine Bar would be a remarkable addition to GSQ,” said Trask Switzenberg, Vice President at Kidder Matthews -- Lead brokerage firm working on this project.
