It’s Official, the Wait is Over, Trader Joe’s is Open in Goodyear 

Christmas came early in Goodyear! Early this morning, a long line of hundreds of Trader Joe’s fanatics wrapped around the new store in Goodyear as excited shoppers eagerly waited to be among the first through the doors. The store officially opened at 8 a.m. on the northwest corner of McDowell Road and Bullard Avenue in the heart of Goodyear’s developing downtown, GSQ.

The scene outside the store was reminiscent of Black Friday. The first people in line, a mother-and-daughter duo, arrived at 8 p.m. the night before. As a token of appreciation for their dedication, Trader Joe’s gifted them a custom-made tote bag filled with some of the store’s most popular items.

“Today is a great day for Goodyear,” said Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “Trader Joe’s has been at the top of our residents’ wish lists for years, and it’s exciting to see that dream finally become a reality. This opening is another sign of how our city continues to grow while keeping that strong sense of community our residents love.”

Excitement has been building since Trader Joe’s announced in May that it was coming to Goodyear. Since 2017, city surveys have consistently shown Trader Joe’s as the most requested grocery store among residents. To show just how much the community wanted the store, the city proclaimed December 13, 2019, as “We Want Trader Joe’s Day” and even hosted a four-hour 55th birthday celebration for the grocer in 2022, livestreamed on social media, all in an effort to draw attention from the grocer in proclaiming the city’s deep desire to have a location in Goodyear.
