What to Expect with the New Utility Rate Plan

Post Date:01/08/2026 5:16 PM

The city’s new utility rate plan is now in effect. The updated rates support the continued operation, maintenance and improvement of the city’s water, wastewater and solid waste systems to ensure reliable, high-quality service for the community now and into the future.

Utility rates are designed to fully cover the cost of providing these essential services. Making planned, gradual adjustments helps reduce the risk of unexpected service disruptions or larger rate increases in the future.

When will customers see the new rates?

The new utility rates are effective now and will first appear on customer utility bills in February.

It’s also important to note that Goodyear is served by multiple water providers. The updated water and wastewater rates apply only to city water customers. The updated solid waste rates apply to all Goodyear residents.

What does this mean for residential water customers?

On average, residents who are both city water and solid waste customers can expect to see an increase of about $8.50 more per month in 2026.

This average is based on a typical residential household using approximately 7,500 gallons of water and 6,000 gallons of wastewater per month, provided by the City of Goodyear.

Actual bill impacts will vary depending on individual water use.

What about solid waste customers?

Residents who are only city solid waste customers will see an average increase of about $1.82 more per month in 2026 for solid waste services.
