The city of Goodyear is honored to share that Councilwoman Vicki Gillis has been reappointed to serve on the National League of Cities (NLC) Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee. For the second year in a row, she will serve a one-year term and provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on critical public safety policies facing local governments, including disaster preparedness and recovery, community-oriented policing, violence prevention, emergency communications and federal grant programs that support local first responders.

"Public safety starts at the local level, and serving on this committee allows me to bring Goodyear’s perspective directly to the national conversation," said Councilwoman Gillis. "I’m proud to advocate for policies that support our first responders, strengthen prevention efforts, and keep our neighborhoods safe and resilient. Supporting our police officers with the right tools, training, and resources is essential to building trust and maintaining safe communities."

As a member of NLC’s PSCP Committee, Councilwoman Gillis will play a key role in shaping NLC’s federal policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the President’s Administration.

“The National League of Cities’ federal advocacy committees are the voice of America’s 19,000 cities, towns and villages to leaders in Washington,” said NLC President Kevin Kramer, councilmember, Louisville, KY. “I am thrilled to work with Councilwoman Gillis and look forward to supporting her goals and ideas as she serves on the PSCP Committee this year, helping to strengthen the partnership between local and federal leaders.”
