The City of Goodyear and the Arts and Culture Commission showcases the artistic talent of our cities youth through the Mayor Select Art Program. With shows in the spring and fall, Goodyear youth are able to showcase their work in a gallery-like setting. Hundreds of entries are submitted from our local schools and the winners receive a monetary scholarship which is a partnership between the city and local businesses.

Mayor Select Art Awards goes Virtual!
All artwork will be displayed in a virtual 3D interactive exhibit that will be on display May 19-August 1.

Mayor Select Spring 2020 | 9th - 12th Grade

The City of Goodyear is seeking artwork by high school students residing in Goodyear. Scholarship awards will be given to the top six selected and one Best in Show recognition will be awarded. Ribbons will be given to recognize honorable mention awards. Artwork will be submitted digitally and exhibited virtually.

Dates to Remember:
- Art Submission Deadline: May 17
- Award Announcement: May 22
- Virtual Exhibit: May 19-August 1
- Council Recognition: TBD

Mayor Select Jr. Spring 2020 | 6th - 8th Grade

The City of Goodyear is seeking artwork by middle school students residing in Goodyear. Scholarship awards will be given to 1st-3rd place winners and honorable mention winners will be recognized with ribbons. Artwork will be submitted digitally and exhibited virtually.

- Art Submission Deadline: May 17
- Award Announcement: May 22
- Virtual Exhibit: May 19-August 1

Tips & Tricks in Photographing your Artwork!

Mayor Select and Mayor Select Jr. Requirements

-Subject matter is of the artist choosing.

-Any 2-Dimensional or 3-Dimensional work may be entered; the artwork may be in any media including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, ceramic, metal and mixed media.

-Artwork should be no larger than 16x20 with a finished framed size of 20x24 for 2D work and not exceed 36” in height for 3D work.

-Artwork will be submitted as a JPG or PDF.

Mayor Select and Mayor Select Jr. General Information

- Entries must be student’s original artwork and cannot defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights or any other third party rights.

- The city of Goodyear reserves the right to disqualify any entry that it deems offensive or not suitable for display.

- By submitting an entry, the city of Goodyear will have limited rights to distribute the image for reproduction in city promotional materials and on the website. The City is hereby granted permission, by the entrant and his/her parent or legal guardian, the use of the reproduced image.

- The City is not responsible for any damage occurring in transit.

- Artwork will be juried by a panel of arts professionals, City staff, and members of the academic community. Judging criteria will include presentation, originality, artistic quality, and composition.
