The Goodyear Police Department, will host its annual Teen Police Academy for high school students ages 14 to 18. Class size is limited to 25 students, so be sure to register early.

The program is scheduled for one week each summer, 2020 academy dates to be determined. The Teen Academy provides an inside look at Law Enforcement, and is geared toward teens who may have an interest in criminal justice. Training is provided by various members of the Goodyear Police Department; a few topics of instruction include: 

  • Working Mock Crime Scenes
  • Firearms Safety and Training
  • Criminal Street Gangs
  • K9
  • Drug Awareness

Classes meet from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. The hours may vary on a few days. There is an application process and a fee of $50, which covers the cost of the Teen Police Academy polo shirt, some lunches, a scheduled fun day and the graduation ceremony. Please print the application, fill it out and return it to the Goodyear Police Department Operations Building at 11 N. 145th Ave. Goodyear, ATTN: Sgt. Webster. (Lobby hours are M-F, 8am-4pm).
