Block Party Guidelines

A Block Party is an organized neighborhood or public gathering on a street, whether public or private, on a specified date at a specific time and place.  The following requirements apply to block parties:

A. Consent from each residence affected by the street closure must be obtained.  A City-provided acknowledgment form listing the date and time of the Event, the addresses of each residence, and the signature of an adult from each residence is required.

B. Only City-approved traffic barricades shall be used to close off the street.  Drop off and pick up of barricades from the City of Goodyear should be arranged by contacting the Engineering Department at 623-882-3110.  Barricades need to be requested a minimum of ten (10) business days in advance of the event.  Barricades will be dropped off the Friday prior to the event and picked up the next business day after the event.  A resident must be available for drop off and pick up of the barricades during the hours of 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., and they will be responsible for storage of the equipment until it has been returned to City staff.  There will be a processing fee of $25.00 for the traffic control.

C. Barricade sites must be manned at all times by an adult physically capable of moving the barricades to allow for quick and immediate access to emergency response vehicles.

D. The center of the street must remain unobstructed to provide clear passage for emergency response vehicles.

E. Tables, chairs, etc. must be placed in yards or on sidewalks.  They may not be in the street.

F. If inflatable air structures are used, they must be less than 200 square feet in size and be placed in yards.
