On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the City of Goodyear celebrated Make a Difference Day for the 18th consecutive year. Mayor Joe Pizzillo welcomed volunteers at the kickoff event at City Hall, where the community’s generous spirit was on full display.

Over 250 volunteers from numerous community groups rolled up their sleeves to complete projects that supported residents and enhanced Goodyear’s neighborhoods. Together, volunteers contributed time, talent, and teamwork across a wide range of service activities, including:

• Building 34 beds for children in Goodyear.
• Sorting donations and assisting with thrift store operations at Hope’s Closet.
• Painting casitas at the New Life Center shelter.
• Conducting yard cleanup at the home of a low-income senior Goodyear resident.
• Painting the Estrella Vista rear block wall.
• Painting 135 fire hydrants in Palm Valley Phase 5.
• Painting over 70 bollards and 2 hydrants at three city well sites.
• Replacing plants at Loma Linda Park and Estrella Vista South Park.
• Replenishing woodchips at playgrounds in Goodyear Community Park, Falcon Park, and the Goodyear Recreation Campus.
• Painting fire curbs at Goodyear Community Park and Falcon Park.
• Cleaning up an alley in Historic Goodyear.

The Build Beds for Kids project was conducted in partnership with AZ Community Impact and Sleep in Heavenly Peace, who provided tools, bedding, and materials. Each team was led by a trained builder and a host to ensure safety and quality craftsmanship.

Make a Difference Day is a national day of service dedicated to helping others and strengthening communities—a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. It takes place annually on the fourth Saturday of October.
