The Goodyear Police Department is dedicated to keeping our community safe and preventing crime. We use the latest technology, work closely with residents, and make crime prevention a top priority—but it takes teamwork to succeed.
The Block Watch Program gives you and your neighbors the tools to work together to keep your neighborhood safe. Read below to learn how to start a program in your area.
What is the Block Watch Program?
Neighborhood Block Watch is a free, community-driven program that encourages neighbors to connect, watch out for one another, and learn crime prevention strategies. It helps break down the isolation that criminals rely on while building strong partnerships between residents and the police department.

How Do I Start a Neighborhood Block Watch Program?
- Talk with your neighbors to see who is interested.
- Ask two or three neighbors to serve as Co-Captains.
- Discuss neighborhood concerns together.
- Share the benefits of Block Watch with your neighbors.
- Emphasize that the program doesn’t require frequent meetings or personal risk.

How Do I Maintain a Block Watch Program?

- Hold at least one Neighborhood Block Watch meeting per year
- Have a Goodyear Police Department representative attend at least one meeting annually
- Maintain at least 50% attendance at annual meetings
