Councilmember Laura Kaino has served on the Goodyear City Council since July 2018 when she was appointed to fill a vacant seat.  Initially elected in March 2019, she was re-elected to her second term in August 2024.  Laura’s top priorities include public safety, water policy and conservation, quality of life and good governance. 

Currently, Laura’s assignments are to serve as the Chair for the Goodyear Public Safety Personnel Retirement Boards and as a member of the City Council Community Funding Subcommittee.  She also represents Goodyear in external organizations as an Executive Committee Member of WESTMARC, board member of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA), member of the Arizona League Neighborhoods, Sustainability & Quality of Life Police Committee, and a Certified Ambassador for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC). 

Laura has a deep understanding of civic involvement and city government gained through her career with the City of Phoenix as a human resources management professional working primarily in the Water Services Department.  Laura earned a Master of Science degree in Leadership from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from Redlands University.  She is a graduate of Leadership West Class XXIV and serves on the Board of the Friends of the Southwest Family Advocacy Center. 

Laura and her husband Lance have lived in the west valley since moving to Arizona in 1993.  They’ve enjoyed their home in Palm Valley since 2007 and have three adult children and several grandchildren.
